1 Year Hospitality Placement
In a Nutshell
We are actively seeking a 1 Year Hospitality Placement. Through rotation, you will move between all of our outlets within the Hotel including our 2 Restaurants, Bar and Conference & Banqueting. In each area you will be undertaking general assistant duties, below is a brief explanation on each area and what you can expect to experience.
Lots to do but lots of fun
Bar, Lounge and Terrace
This department comprises 2 key areas, bar service (hot and cold, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages) as well as basic food from the bar menu, and afternoon tea.
Your time in Bar Lounge and Terrace will see you work in both of these key areas, developing high levels of product knowledge in the bar, and exceptional service standards through the afternoon tea experience.
During your time in the restaurant you will understand how to prepare the restaurant for services, as well as room service functions. You will learn the sequence of service and how to serve guests to our standards. You will develop high levels of menu knowledge in both food and wine.
Conference & Banqueting
You will get experience of the full range of events, including how to set up and prepare for meetings, as well as working them. There will be elements of food and beverage service for the banquet side of the department including plated service, snake service, champagne and canapé receptions. For the conference side of the business there will be coffee stations, break out food and buffets, setting up of audio visual equipment and so on.
As placement students you will also have the opportunity to attend a Head of Department meeting, where you will sit with the managers of the Resort and be involved in business discussions and decisions.
We also provide the opportunity to spend some time cross training in the specialisms of Front of House and Sales should this be of interest.
The Ideal Candidate
Are you right for us?
Our successful Food & Beverage Placement student will be/ have;
- Currently studying a relevant degree in Hospitality or Hotel Management – this placement opportunity is for ‘sandwich’ placement years only (No graduate applications at this time)
- A passion for pleasing to ensure our guests has a happy experience.
- Previous experience as a Food and Beverage Assistant / Waiter/ess (preferable but not essential)
- An interest, and appreciation of fine food & wine
- Confident communicator – important to liaise with your guests and your other team members.
