Head Housekeeper

Job Introduction

To be responsible for the smooth running of the Housekeeping department by ensuring all areas of the property are cleaned and serviced to the required standard and to be aware of Security, Health & Safety and to always exceed our guests' expectations by promoting a positive work environment and to motivate and develop the team

This is a permanent full time role based on a 5 out of 7 shift pattern which includes weekends and Bank Holidays.

Role Responsibility

The Head Housekeeper will be responsible for…

  • Ensuring all areas of the property are clean and well maintained.
  • Organising the day to day operations of the department in accordance with the required standard.
  • In conjunction with the Financial Controller, planning and controlling the budget and expenditure for the year to maintain the department and controlling costs.
  • Training and development of the team to ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them and to ensure a training plan is in place. 
  • Effective rota planning.
  • Holding departmental meetings in line with the properties standards.
  • Conducting quarterly reviews with the team.
  • Working directly with the Maintenance department to ensure the all bedrooms are maintained & decorated to standard
  • Issuing and maintaining staff uniforms.
  • Conducting spot checks of all areas.
  • Liaising with suppliers, making sure we have the right equipment to do the job.
  • Stock control and management.
  • Ensuring there is a deep/spring cleaning schedule in place and that it’s carried out.
  • Carrying out Duty management shifts as and when required.

The Ideal Candidate

Our successful Head Housekeeper will …

  • Have previous experience in a Housekeeping management role, preferably in a four or five red star property
  • Be able to effectively delegate
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong financial understanding
  • Think strategically
  • Display strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrate a passion for Guests

  • Take pride in achieving results and celebrating success
  • Be able to multi task
