Job Introduction

In a Nutshell

To maintain and evolve the Kitchen garden here at Lainston House, planting and growing suitable produce that can be used in the Kitchens at the Hotel 

Role Responsibility

Lots to do, but lots of fun

  • To carry out maintenance of the Kitchen Garden to a 5 star standard.
  • To interact with guests and discuss the gardens progress and what is actively growing each month.
  • To expand and grow the garden each year to match the development of the gardens at our other properties
  • To work closely with the Executive chef to create produce in the Kitchen Garden that can be used in the Kitchens
  • To help evolve the field to fork concept
  • To perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
  • To work as part of a team to constantly evaluate and improve the experience of our guests.
  • To ensure all opportunities to generate revenue for the hotel are maximised .
  • To ensure the productivity of the kitchen garden, which reduces cost to the hotel.
  • Complies with The Exclusive Collection policies and procedures .
  • Participation in gardens meetings held at property.

The Ideal Candidate

Are you right for us?

  • Friendly disposition and customer service experience
  • 2-3 years experience in Kitchen Gardens/ Gardens
  • Tractor/lawn mowing equipment experience
  • Previous experience of gardening with a genuine interest or desire to progress in horticulture
  • Ability to work both as part of a team or unsupervised
  • Experience of handling gardening machinery and the required certificates of competence. (Chainsaw/spraying certificates)
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility
  • Physical fitness and stamina
